Chandrayaan is a remote-controlled satellite exploration mission by India's national space agency the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The spacecraft was launched on 22 October 2008 from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.. It is named as 'Chandrayaan' which means 'Moon-vehicle'.

Chandrayaan - the remote sensing satellite weighs 1,308 kilograms. It carries high resolution remote sensing equipments. For a period of two-years, it is intended to survey the lunar surface to study and produce a report on the chemical characteristics and 3-dimensional topography. Major areas of concern are the polar regions as they might contain water ice.

Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft takes about 11 hours to revolve round the Earth once. The spacecraft will take 5.5 days to reach the Moon. The estimated cost for the project is Rs. 3.86 billion. The ISRO chief scientist Mylswamy Annadurai is the Project Director for this mission.

The mission includes five ISRO payloads and six payloads from other international space agencies including NASA, ESA, and the Bulgarian Aerospace Agency, which are being carried free of cost.

World's Fastest Computer Built from Video Game Chips

The US Department of Energy made a new record for building up the fastest computer in the world by using video game computer chips.

The supercomputer is named as "Roadrunner". This computer is built from 13,000 of Cell processors which were first used in the PlayStation 3, in collaboration with around 7,000 AMD processors designed for desktop computers.

This supercomputer processes the information twice as fast as the previous fastest computer used too. Roadrunner recently managed to run 1000 trillion calculations per second. Roadrunner is a teraflop as it can perform trillion calculations per second.

Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, US, declared that Roadrunner is the fastest computer in the world.
